Commitment
By its definition, a parent participation school cannot function without the involvement of its member families. Expectations are high, and the community is asked to do their part in establishing an environment that is educational, interactive, and supports risk-taking. It isn't always easy, but it is always worthwhile.
RCS families have established the following as the fundamental ground rules to assure everyone knows what is expected as their minimum share in the operation of the school:
Time Commitments
- Classroom participation (participation commitment based on tuition payment plan)
- Two weekends of school cleaning per year (5-6 hours each time)
- Parent job (sign up at orientation) ex: pet care, laundry, field trip organizer, etc.
- Field trips - each family must drive on at least 4 field trips per year (no siblings)
- Two community maintenance workdays (there are 4 each year)
- Mandatory monthly parent meetings (normally scheduled from 7:00 to 9:00 pm)
- Beginning of the year Orientation Meeting - MUST BE THE PARTICIPATING PARENT
- Occasional workshops - Fridays from 1:00 to 2:00 pm.
- Fundraising activities - each fundraiser has a time and/or financial commitment per family
Financial Commitments
- Annual tuition (may be paid in monthly installments)
- Field trip fees (variable depending on field trip cost)
- One time fingerprinting fee
- Fundraising activities - RCS has several fundraisers each year.
